Lace-up boots and faded jeans
A homemade sandwich, a half jug of tea
Average Joe, average pay
Same ol' end and same ol' day
But there’s nothing wrong with a hard hat and a hammer
Kind of glue that sticks this world together
Hands of steel and cradle of the Promised Land
God bless the working man
All week long making a living
Life keeps takin', he keeps giving
Behind the scene, below the grade
Hardly noticed but part of everything
He gives his life then fades away
Another young man takes his place
Average Joe, average pay
Same ol end, same old' day
But there’s nothing wrong with a hard hat and a hammer
Kind of glue that sticks this world together
Hands of steel and cradle of the Promised Land
No, there’s nothing wrong with a hard hat and a hammer
Kind of glue that sticks this world together
Hands of steel and cradle of the Promised Land
God bless the working man
The working man
Oh, the working man and woman
We need more hard hats and hammers in this country....less useless college degrees (it's not for everyone) and we have to stop shipping all the jobs overseas. There is a reason it's so cheap.
My dad went into trades, my grandfather is a farmer, and I'm going into trades. More people are going into these big fancy jobs, that's good and all, but its the guys who are busting their asses for 10+ hours a day that keep this world going. Thank you to those in trades
Alan Jackson's musical style is timeless. Really tired of hearing the poppy country style popular today. Listening to this reminds me why I started to listening to country music for the past 20 years.
My father is not from the USA but is proud of being here. He came from nothing now we own a ranch and herd cattle.I am enlisting in the marine corps and he is proud that I am going to protect this country.
Thank god for country music and the strength for me to get out of bed each morning and put in my 12 hour shift each day workin in that ole factory! Most of my friends don't wanna work for nothing and want everything gave to them. 18 years old and ive got 40 more years of hard work but one day ill be able to spend my days doing what I want! I pray my fellow brothers and sisters of my generation realize that hardwork DOES payoff in the long run.
How does this song only have a million views, but when a new, ignorant rap video comes out, it gets an instant 20 million views. This is real music, with meaning behind the lyrics, and sensible instrumentals, that actually sends a good message to our youth. I feel bad for this upcoming generation.
When you buy a steak, you know there was a rancher who worked hard and honest, someone who drove the steaks in a truck and someone who sold them in a grocery store, we need those people.
But who really needs the suits of the Wallstreet ? This country was built by working men, not by greedy brokers
I'm a miner in south alabama and work from 6:00pm till 6:00am working 12 hrs in the under ground as a mechanic and a volunteer firefighter on my three of bays and thank you Alan for the great song
I bust my ass 6 days a week working with my hands hazardous material removal, roofing, siding, concrete demo. God bless us working men and keep us safe another day on the job.
