The light’s getting weaker now
The colours fading into grey
The sentiments are all consumed by one
The air’s getting thinner now
Surrendering to the void
What will I be?
Cursed for eternity
until the curtain has fallen down on me?
It seems the walls are crumbling from within
The roof above is starting to fall in
I’m digging holes to bury all my sins
alone
Walk through the hidden door where life has flown
Hold me and don’t let go until all the ghosts are gone
It seems the walls are crumbling from within
The roof above is starting to fall in
I keep digging holes to bury all my sins
Soon I’m done
Praying that it will work out ok
Find a rhyme to make it go away
Praying that it will work out ok
Maybe the rookie´s think this is "plagiarism" but let me tell you something... Anekdoten is one of the most unique and amazing progbands from sweden, (personally Landberk is my most beloved band). I love Opeth as well but sadly i have to say that Mikael Akerfeldt subtly theft this musical sound in this new Opeth era. Daniel Gildenlow did a much better job finding new sounds for his band. Best regards to all.
At 37:18 - 37:38 I can hear so much of Steven Wilson's "The Raven That Refused to Sing" flute work !!
And throughout the whole last song I hear a lot of Anglagard.
I just love this Anekdoten album...it reminds of many good things, and presents many innovative timber and phrasing works an in the manner it fuses all these inspirations.
I like the vocals - sounds a bit like David Gilmour in early Floyd days... with very well arranged recent 'Opeth' prog style production... gotta love the Mellotron! Gonna buy this!
I even get a bit sentimental when I hear the scratch of a needle on a record, Yes, I am that old; apparently I don’t look as old as I am; I cannot complain about that... I will shut up now.
All this comparison stuff gets me down ...if it’s in a negative sense - as most musicians are surely influenced by music they love -wether consciously or not. All music by artists of the same genre can’t fail to sound alike at one time or another. Unless you are Kraftwerk in 1972 or Motörhead in 1978 or Peter Hamill in 1970 etc . That’s my opinion anyway and love to all you lovers of this fab ,very cool and beautiful piece of musical magick . NewForestPixie
I remember seeing this band at a little record store venue (phantasmagoria) near Baltimore in 1996. They were opening for Porcupine Tree and Gong. They were very nice folks, but very shy before and after the show. Not many people there had ever heard of them. Their performance was incredible. I bought the new disc they had then "Nucleus" in which they all signed for me. They blew us ALL away that night and I've been a fan ever since. It's awesome to see them still together and putting out great music.
The voice in this band always give/brings an edge to the song, a color that you don't find in other bands. Not for all taste I guess, but I'm a fan. And the other musicians are purely awesome.
