I’m just a woman, a lonely woman
Waiting on the weary shore
I’m just a woman who’s only human
One you should feel sorry for
It was a morning, long before dawn
Without a warning I found he was gone
How could he do it, why should he do it
He never done it before
Am I blue, am I blue
Ain’t these tears in these eyes telling you
How can you ask me am I blue
Why, wouldn’t you be too
If each plan with your man
Done fell through
There was a time
When I was his only one
But now I’m the sad and lonely one… lonely
Was I gay, until today
Now he’s gone, and we’re through
Am I blue
You cannot hear this gal sing without falling in love. I adore Annette Hanshaw. She has such a relaxed, comfortable singing style. It is never forced, no wasted notes. She could sing anything, and always with a fresh wit and personality.
Oh how I wish I could have known her. She was a Goddess of song, and how 9 tone deaf ppl could give thumbs down is far beyond my understanding. To all of you others who recognise true natural talent, my hat's off to you and I think we belong to the same club.

Beautiful rendition!
Thanks for posting!
First learned this song as a kid in the late 60's~~My guitar teacher taught "wedding-band repetoire," (you had to know hits from the 20's, 30's, 40's, 50's and 60's to appeal to all age groups.) Problem was, (as a kid aged 8 to 13), I had no exposure to the original tunes, so didn't really connect to the tone and feel of a lot of it til years later.
I love this beautiful singer...I wish my Gran was around to talk about her and what she thought of her, my Gran would of been 18 years old.The 20s seemed so entertaining and very vibrant times.
