When we got married
I took the marriage vow
In sickness and in health
I said I do
For richer, for poorer
'Till death us do part
And you said that you’d
Honour an obey me too
But it wasn’t very long
Before I soon found out
The one who wore the
Trousers was you
But after all these years
At last I’m pushing you about
But in sick ness and in health
I said I do
When we was courting
You used to say to me
«My darling I can’t wait
Until we’re wed
«I'll iron all your trousers
Sow buttons on your shirts
I’ll think the world of you»
That’s what you said
But it wasn’t very long
Before you changed your tune
Moan all day and night
That’s all you do
Me dinner’s always burnt
When I come home from up the pub
But in sickness and in health
I said I do
When we got married
I took the marriage vow
In sickness and in health
I said I do
For richer, for poorer
'Till death us do part
And you said that you’d
Honour and obey me too
But it wasn’t very long
Before I soon found out
The one who wore the
Trousers was you
Now after all these years
At last I’m pushing you about
But in sickness and in health
I love ya
In sickness and in health
I said I do
Brilliant song which used to open the sitcom "In Sickness and in Health", a sequel to "Till Death us Do Part", on BBC1. They were asked to write the intro for "Only Fools and Horses" by Jonny Speight, who produced both, but for some reason they never got it and John Sullivan's tape that he sent in to the BBC just as a demo version ended up being the one actually sung, though he can't sing, but he wanted Chas 'n' Dave to sing it. As my aunt would say, it's a well-known fact that not a lot of people know about.
Unfortunately Dandy Nichols passed away after the first series so they revised the lyrics
Now my old darling they've laid her down to rest and now I'm missing her with all me heart, but they don't give a monkeys down the DHSS and they've gone and halved me pension for a start, and it won't be long before I'm by her side cos I'll prob'ley stave to death that's what I'll do, for richer for poorer I'm bloody poor and that's a fact , In sickness and in health I said I'd do..
