GI Jo as she was called by the boys in the service, crooning her way through this wonderful V-Disc recording that was shipped out for those in the service at the end of the war. What a gorgeous voice and a gorgeous song.

I close my eyes and suddenly I'm in a smoke-filled cabaret somewhere 1940's

I'm a fan of a fan of 40's music...it just lovely to listen too. The youth of today are missing out!

I was born just at the end of WWII.  This music was on every juke box as I grew up, (in a restaurant, the old one nickel call to an operator who would play your song at your table) and I remember this great music. It formed my idea of what IS good music. It can make one scat or jazz and play any instrument, or song, and is soothing on the soul. Always the best real singers and bands from the 1920s to the 1950s. It is actually the tempo I live with.

Funny how every version of a song by Jo is the best version you've ever heard.

Blue moon you saw me standing alone Without a dream in my heart Without a love of my own Blue moon You knew just what I was there for You heard me saying a pray'r for Someone I really could care for And then there suddenly appeared before me The only one my arms will ever hold I heard somebody whisper "Please adore me" And when I looked, the moon had turned to gold! Blue moon! Now I'm no longer alone Without a dream in my heart Without a love of my own

I was born just before the start of WW2, so all this music I grew up with and Jo was a big favourite!
