Saluting this Great Man, Paul Robeson, ths Black History Month. He was a Phenomenal Singer, Actor, Activist, and was siccessful in many other areas that are too numerous to mention. I would love to hear more about this Renaissance Man, who actually was still alive during my lifetime. Perhaps someone will produce a movie about his incredible life some day. I for one would like that very much.

I will never forget my Aunt singing this at my grandmother funeral..her mother..without choking up, singing all alone in front of the crowds.. it was amazing..

This is the best bass voice ever heard anywhere, anytime !!  So sad that America could not understand this man and appreciate his talents.......he was way beyond anything that any American could get (unless perhaps they were in the same genre).

my grandma knew paul robeson she told me that one time she was with him and they were visiting a little girl who was sick with polio. my grandma told me mr robeson was so tender to that little girl sitting on her bed singing to her. this was probably in the 90's she told me this story and she was in her 90's at the time. she made sure to let me know that he was one of the most famous people in the country at the time, and he took the time out of his day to cheer up a sick girl. no press there or anything that is just the kind of man he was.

For me, it embodies the Dignity & Hope of those poor Souls who suffered so much for so long. So much injustice. Beautiful voice ,Beautiful song. In bad times I think of this song, & it puts things in perspective. Holy Song.
