I dunno, this is a pretty good cover. It's sad that there's no Pasternak part, but at the same time, he probably didn't think he could pronounce the Russian correctly.
Wow its so great to see a legend like Peter Gabriel show appreciation for Regina's work by covering her! Its nice to see people appreciate her. After all, imitation is the greatest form of flattery.
And of course Regina fans are going to prefer Regina's version, as the original artist is often the best at capturing the mood and essence of their own song, but if a Regina fan refuses to see how awesome this version, they are just blind.
I think it's great. This adaptation just gives you a different perspective. it sounds more like it has a ... more universal meaning. I definitely prefer it to the original. Peter is great
Beautiful cover of a beautiful song...
Though I love the Russian poem in Regina's original, I'm glad Gabriel left it out. His "yelling" really makes this song, it's so powerful.
Peter Gabriel started the Red Blood Orchestra and Scratch My Back Project with two restrictions. There would be no guitar and no drums. Try to cover all these songs on the album without guitar and drums. He challenged himself and beat the challenge. This is for all you haters out there. Gabriel is brilliant.
Even thou it's a cover I sort of consider this song to basically be here comes the flood part 2, it's like it feels like it has so much much connection to everything he has done.
This is ungodly AWESOME! I completely have chills. I adore Regina, and this is one of my favorite songs from her. And PG is just simply one of the greatest musical artists of all time! I'm so happy for Regina to honored in this way by one of the greats, and I also think it speaks so well of Peter as a person for shining a spotlight on her like this. Love the simplicity of RS's version, love the intense drama of this version! Genius!
