If you listen to old Spirit albums I think you'll find that Randy Influenced Jimi as much as the other way around Jammin together rubs off both ways RIP

Randy was and still is outa sight. His wrist is a guitaris one. No one can replace jimi but randy was close to it.  Kingdom come was too close to him. Iwas lucky to got a fresh Kaptain kopter  in 70's yet did not understand the value of it. Now  it is separated from other works with the original The Who live at leeds including all the stuff with in it.

You can sure tell that Randy Cali and Jimi Hendrix came of age together in NYC when both were struggling guitarist in the local club scene. Jimi gave him the name of California because they were in a band together and another member was named Randy. Hendrix called him Randy Texas.

They were pals. Jimi hung out at Randy's dad's jazz club. Randy was supposed to be part of the Experience - but his mother wouldn't let the 15yo go off to England! Led Zep used to open for Spirit (where Page swiped Randy's song 'Taurus', and used it for 'Stairway') Read the Wiki pages on Randy. A fascinating story, and incredible musician! 'But MOM!...'

he's my musical mentor and personal hero (his son survives) and this song got me through the 1st year i escaped the prison of teenager's home!
