I’m so happy to be here tonight
So glad to be here in your wonderful city
I have a little message for you
And I want to tell every woman and every man tonight
That’s ever needed someone to love
That’s ever had somebody to love them
That ever had somebody’s understanding
That’s ever had someone to need your love all the time
Someone that’s with them when they’re up
Somebody that’s with them when they’re down
If you had yourself somebody like this you better hold onto them
Let me tell you something
Sometimes you get what you want
And you lose what you have
There’s a song I sing
And I believe that everybody should sing this song you can save the whole world
Listen to me
Everybody needs somebody
Everybody needs somebody
Everybody wants somebody to love
Honey to hug
Sugar to kiss
Baby to miss now
Baby to tease
Sometimes to please yeah
And I need you you you
And I need you you you
In the morning baby you you you
When the sun goes down you you you
Ain’t no nobody around you you you
Whoa Sometimes I feel like
I feel a little sad inside
When my baby mistreats me
And I can’t get a little little mad
But I need you you you
Just to see me through
Somebody to hold my hand
When I feel a little lonely
Oh baby say yeah
I say yeah yeah
Yeah
Somebody
I just want my woman to stand up and say I love you
I want someone to be a witness
I just want to say I love you
I just want somebody to say yeah
It’s great to these R&B artists from the past singing their classic, but I can’t stand is to hear these Classics being played on these fake ultra cool commercials. I hope at least these late artists R&B, Rock, even Classical musicians no matter the flavor, estates are being paid big bucks . Amazon and many other billion dollar companies. Just like Mozart and many other classical artists from many years ago these artists have left this world a legacy of music to enjoy. RIP Solomon Burke.
I remember when The Blues Brother sung this song; that is the first time I heard it; but when I came across this song in England around 1997, the other version was kicked to the serious curb. RIP Solomon Burke.
Elwood: We're so glad to see so many of you lovely people here tonight. And we would especially like to welcome all the representatives of Illinois's law enforcement community that have chosen to join us here in the Palace Hotel Ballroom at this time. We certainly hope you all enjoy the show. And remember, people, that no matter who you are and what you do to live, thrive and survive, there're still some things that makes us all the same. You. Me. Them. Everybody. Everybody.
Part Wilson Pickett, part Smokey Robinson, and all PREACHER (which is what he went back to doing when the hits ended).
How hip of Belushi and Ackroyd to make this tune the musical lynch-pin of "The Blues Brothers."
Solomon Burke took Rhythm and Blues to Church one day in 1962 and out came "Everybody Needs Somebody To Love" one of the greatest Soul records ever made. Lest we forget, he was not called the "Wonder Boy Preacher" for nothing. He uses it to heart wrenching perfection to "Save the whole world." And he does, trust me.
I absolutely hate that Amazon is using this for their Holiday commercials. I mute it when it comes on, they ruined a great original, even the Blues Brothers remake.
Only hope they are paying the Burke family for using it...but who knows. Amazon doesn't even pay taxes.
