Spooky Two was and still is a classic album. Featuring Luther Grovsenor on guitar , who later joined Mott the Hoople and changed his name to Ariel Bender :) Mike Harrison and Gary Wright on vocals - definitely the dream team. I bought the album Ceremony afterwards which was pretty weird. Imagine trying to release an album like that nowadays, through a major record company!!
My piece of human excrement step-father identified with this song. A long buried awesome piece of muisc that cast its great shadow somewhere in his twisted psyche of his merciless torture and cruelty to us children.
I can see him and his buddies listening to this song in their car radios smoking fags, talking about getting out of this town, and sewing the seeds of dysfunction and pettiness.
Sad lives to reap in the soil of a neglected childhood.
Rest in pieces you sorry excuse for a human...
I loved these guys, helped keep me sane in Germany as well as back home in Flint. They were instrumental (yeah very) in getting me through the seventies and becoming so much the better. I'll never forget the first time I expirienced the album known as (THE MIRROR) You would laugh when the first time they sang the chorus to that song, a beam of light came through a small hole in the pull down blind bounced off a mirror and hit me square in the eye. (See the light) I went to see them live at Sherwood forest later that evening. And that was only yesterday!
One of the very most exciting hitsongs ever brewed back then...the whole feel...vocals + golden backing voice...them solid drums..in the end certainly also the gorgeous bass play and ramming riff of the rythm guitar. BLISSSS high school elation. If played on the dance floor I climb da rocking wall again!
mike harrison it looks like he has 3 voices ...............every time you see him singing , he modifies your own voice...........pure authentic and wonderful!
Those of us that grew up in the late 60s &early 70s never took for granted how freakin good this and 99% of the rest of our music was, Truly gotta feel bad for kids today they have so very little music that will stand the test of time . Great Post....
