Tom thompson came paddling past i’m pretty sure it was him and he spoke so softly in accordance to the growing of the dim he Said, «bring on the brand new renaissance cause i think i’m ready i’ve been
shaking all night long but my hands are steady»
Three pistols came and three people went, on their way three pistols strong and
three people spent
Well he found his little, lonely love his bride of the northern woods but,
she took me to the opera house like he said she would
Then she sighed and she fell from the balcony shakespeare’s bent to touch she
never had any time for me cause i didn’t protest
Enough
Three pistols came and three people went, on their way two pistols strong and
three people spent
Little girls come on rememberance day placing flowers on his grave she waits in the shadows 'til after dark to sweep them all
Away
I say, bring on the brand new renaissance cause i think i’m ready i’ve been
shaking all night long but my hands are steady
Three pistols came and three people went, on their way three pistols strong and
three people spent three pistols came and three
People went on their way one pistol strong and three people spent
Always has been and always will be in the top five of my favorite Hip songs. Was one of the first songs that made me realize Gord wasn't a bro-dude hockey fan just out to sell beer at their shows, there was something much deeper going on in their music. It's the song that caught my attention and made me a life long fan. I can't see a Group of 7 painting without thinking of this song.
This album is amaizing, they were young, new and up against other genres that were the center of popular music at the time like Metallica, Megadeath, Testament, Anthrax, GnR, peppers and a wack load of other huge bands...meanwhile The Hip put this little diddy out and soared in Canada. This was played everywhere and for years to come in my parts of Canada. I appreciate their music more than ever now....even after 25 years of when I 1st heard it. Listen to' Day for Night' album if you haven't.
I saw them on this tour at the Back Room in Austin. I still consider this one of the top 3 shows I have ever seen and I have seen hundreds of live shows. I was fortunate to see them 3 more times in Austin. The death of Gord Downie is a huge loss. It's not just Canada that will miss him. So will Texas.
How this band didn't become big outside Csnada is BEYOND the realm of comprehension....RIP GORD DOWNIE....AMAZING BAND & VOCALIST...at least i had the privilege to see you live 8 years ago in Calgary....possible the best concert i have ever seen
