Those interjections, sounding like Perez Prado one minute and Truman Capote the next, were by the May band's drummer, the great Alvin Stoller (1925 - 1992). One of the top drummers on the west coast studio scene for some 40+ years, he worked with the likes of Frank Sinatra, Oscar Peterson, and Nat King Cole. Additionally, he worked on numerous film and TV soundtracks.

I came across this today when I had a "Billy May" version of "Adios" up. That's a story in itself (I had to do an excerpt by ear for my web site from MEMORY), but THIS recording is an interesting version of a Chiristmas song which would be hard to find even in season (like the 5/4 version of God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, which prompted me to do that in alternating medley with Take 5).
