Ouch! It is possible to like both Elvis and Johnny Horton as well. Perhaps you haven't heard the right stuff? I like music to have some grit. For Elvis, try the Sun sessions. On the other hand, perhaps you've heard them already and still dont like his work? You're entitled to your opinion!

When I was growing up it wasn't a big deal for us kids to hear this kind of music we actually had a brain and knew it was wrong to do it.  It is just a bloody song.

I like both versions! Obviously, it's the Horton version that's the original (correct me if it was first recorded by someone else). It was through the Kitty, Daisy & Lewis version that I was first introduced to Horton. The slower pace of the Horton version makes it easier to hear the lyrics.
