My lovely big bro used to break out into this song in the pub when it was very quiet lol, sadly he had a massive stroke just before his 60th birthday, has a trachy, can no longer speak, eat walk or anything but the mischief is still there in his eyes
My grandpa died last week. This is the song I remember him by. I would always say noo not josef locke again. Now I can't make it to the end without bawling.
Oh how this brings back fond and very happy times. My grandparents had Josef Locke's records played on a radiogram every Saturday night with a big roaring fire going, we did not need the light on, as the fire lit up the parlour. How I truly cherish those days indeed.
I saw Joseph Locke many years ago at a club in Blackburn, called the Starlight, he was, to me as a young lad steeped in rock and roll, a revelation, I realised from then on that music had many tentacles, thankyou Joseph
absolutely wonderfull I love all the Irish ballads and joseph locke was a wonderful exponent he will live forever in peoples memory. I wish that I could sing like him
my father used to play Josef Locke on our way to family holidays to the west coast of Ireland repeatedly and this is a voice you could never tire off, quite emotional hearing it again
I saw Josef Locke at the Bournemouth palladium when I was about 13 (I'm 72 now) and he was a wonderful singer. The Goons were on the same bill with Spike Milligan and Harry Secombe. Hillarious.
