The whole concept of judging art or music as pretentious seems nonsensical though, as integralprod noted. No one is claiming anything when they write a song or make a work of art; whether its that their song/art should be greatly admired or that it is revolutionary, or anything like that. All of those comments are made by listeners, so you can't apply the "pretentious" qualifier to an artist unless they *say* they are revolutionary or something like that. But here they haven't, so its illogical

Oh man seriously. I blast animal collective with my friends. Some don't like it because they fine more pleasure listening to overproduced, emotionless, "what's popular." They say this stuff is too weird and kinda boring. I just let it slide because their music makes me want to become a seriously loving person.
