yeah david ferguson. he basically bought the material from the drummer,(who may or may not have been a junkie, i can't recall) and the rest of the band hasn't seen a dime. smarmy business.

ON THE ANNIVERSARY OF J.F.K's ASSASSINATION IN 1963 HERE IS ANOTHER VERSION OF THE AVENGER'S THE AMERICAN IN ME. This is the third version that saw the light of day, but I believe it's the first version they recorded. It's not the pink album version and not from the Steve Jones collaboration 12" e.p. we just heard. This rendering is only available on a DBK Works CD that was released in 2004.. It was recorded on June 28, 1978. For those of you perhaps hearing The Avengers for the first time, how lucky you are. From San Francisco they are one of the very greatest early American punk bands. Almost all their songs (with a second version of The American In Me) are available on one retrospective LP. Great songs, great playing. And what to say about the singing? IMO you are hearing the greatest female punk singer ever--Penelope Houston. What feeling in her voice! You just automatically believe everything she says. A must group for anyone interested in the history of punk music.

Penelope Houston emailed me in '99 re:a copy of the s/t album that I had recently bought. I posted on some msg board that I found a new re-released vinyl copy in a record store in Austin a few weeks earlier while on vacation. She saw the post & emailed me about it. Apparently some guy/label was releasing it w/o her/their permission. I didn't care, but SHE did! She wanted to know the name of the store! Told her I couldn't remember. I didn't want the store owner gettin in trouble. Mom & pop store!

Thanks for taking the time to respond. It makes what I do worthwhile and I really appreciate it. On my channel I try to leave some informative comments, not just "Green Day sucks" or "Hey man, this rocks."
