i first heard billie when i was 15 years old.my cousin ben was doing my hair for school the next day.she said thats billie holiday there on the radio.i liked the sound i was hearing.so the next sunday night i asked her to put that station on again and on sunday nights i would listen to billie but i didnot learn of who she was until the 12th grade my english teacher gave me lady sings the blues to read and give a report on.thats when billie came in my life.
this fairly early recording ..her voice was superb... she virtually throws away the words "...to you" ... so irreverent .. so cool .. later version is phrased a tiny bit differently ..still the fabulous billie holliday..
