I don't get the pissin and moanin about religion....I am not religious at all but I love the passion and heart and talent that these originals had..men like Charlie Patton ,Blind Willie, Son House, Tommy Johnson and a handfull of others had such an impact on the future of music and they prob couldn't even imagine the impact they would have....you don't have to like the blues but you should have the decency to respect it.
I'm an atheist and I love this version of Keep Your Lamp Trimmed and Burning. We are singing it in choir and it very uplifting to me. Love Blind Willie!
I'm an atheist and I love this music. I don't see why people who think like I do need to come bitch about music. It's music. You don't have to be religious to enjoy it.
The female accompaniment on this track is most likely his wife, Angeline, a local gospel singer that met Willie in June of 1927. (They were married the next day.)
