I grew up with listening to BOC and have so many great memories with them playing in the back ground. Yes. I was one of the lucky ones.

Anyone else get those chills during the guitar part just before the chorus?

Playing this song at a mild volume while it's actually thunderstorm outside. 10/10 would do again.

Never noticed just how much Metallica took influence from this exact song. It's like they based 90% of their catalog on the vocal patterns from this track.

Imaginos joins the crew of a ship traveling to the Yucatán Peninsula, but while passing through the Gulf of Mexico, the ship encounters a freak storm of which his visions failed to warn him ("Del Rio's Song"). The ship sinks with most of its crew, and Imaginos, half dead, washes ashore and is left for dead by the other survivors. As he lies dying "on a shore where oyster beds seem plush as down", Imaginos is addressed by a symphony of voices who identify themselves as Les Invisibles. Imaginos' true nature is revealed to him, and he is informed that the circumstances of his entire life have been manipulated to bring him to that specific moment in time. Having explained themselves to him, they offer him a choice – die as a human, or live as their servant ("Blue Öyster Cult"). Imaginos accepts their offer, and is resurrected from the dead by the Blue Öyster Cult, the servants of Les Invisibles. He is inducted into the cult and given a new name - Desdinova, "Eternal Light". He realizes that his descent and the origin of his powers comes from the stars where his masters live and becomes aware of his role in the making of history

Whole song is really good actually n i do like it n dont really fast forward or skip it. But, my fav part not that anyone asked, is that vocal harmony part "the light that never" mmmmm so delicious to hear. Shame its SO fucking short. 2:50

Damn, I remember discovering this album by chance when I was a teen. I was so happy... I knew a couple of BOC songs, but I never stopped and listened to a whole album by them before. Astronomy is still one of my favourite songs

This is from my All Time favorite BOC album..i was there at the fabulous forum in 1976 to see Blue Oyster Cult perform songs from Secret Treaties. I Was NOT Disappointed!!! This song was astonishing! Jaw dropping!Performed With the Lasers and mirrored disco balls hung from the ceiling. Unforgettable.
