Just one more morning
I have to wake up with the blues
Pull myself outta bed
Put on my walking shoes
I go up on a mountain
To see what I can see, yeah
The whole world is falling
Right down in front of me
'Cause I’m hung up on dreams
I’ve never seen, yeah, baby
Lord, help me, baby, whoa
This will surely be the end of me
Yeah, yeah, all right
Ooh, I got to dream now, oh, Lord
Pull myself together
Put on a new face
Climb down off the hilltop, baby
Oh, I get back in the race
'Cause I’ve got dreams
Yeah, dreams to remember
Yeah, yeah, I’ve got dreams
Oh, dreams to remember
Help me out, y’all
I’ve got dreams
Yeah, yeah, dreams to remember
Oh, oh, oh
I’ve got dreams
Dreams to remember
Yeah, yeah, yeah
I dream all the time
I don’t never, ever
Get nothing down now
Oh, I got dreams
Dreams, dreams, dreams…
Although I love the ABB version (hell, I should), Buddy's version is the one I always think of. So freakin' cool...
The man was a treasure. Long live his memory.
Coolest man in Rock, Loved him with Electric Flag with Mike Bloomfield on Guitar, also awesome on the 'Super Session' DVD Ft. Steven Stills, Buddy Guy, Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce & band Colosseum amongst others. Both showing what a fantastic vocalist Buddy was!
Man this smoking, brings back a lot of memories, pre-1975 funk, all the bands with horn sections. Buddy was a real cool dude too, we talked a few times..I met him in the 80's when I was a floor manager for Guitar Center in Chicago, He came in sat and played guitar for hours...really cool brother....RIP Buddy!
Buddy loved Otis Redding. It's pretty obvious that he's paying tribute in this song with the repeated phrase, "I've got dreams to remember." Good ol' Buddy. I miss him.
