*I REMEMBER YOU*   { ...I Remember You, You're the One who made my Dreams come TRUE, A few Kisses ago... I Remember You, You're the One who said I LOVE You, too, I do, Didn't you?  I Remember too a Distant Bell, And Stars that fell like Rain 'Out of the Blue'... When my Life is through, And the ANGELS ask me to recall the thrill of them all, Then I shall tell them, I Remember You...  -Diana Krall/Johnny Mercer 1941 }

she's pianist by education and played piano professionally before starting to sing on stage. i went to her concert couple of years ago: she plays piano herself with bassist and drummer supporting.

It's a very long way from Frank Ifield - my very first record in 1962 - to this. A lovely version, which I've not heard before. Just a quick question: does anybody know who the backing musicians are? At the beginning, where it is purely instrumental, it sounds very much like Pat Metheny Group. Don't suppose it is, but it's a very cool contemporary jazz sound, in a similar vein to much of his mid-period 80s material on albums such as We Live Here, Offramp and Still Life (Talking).
