A tall tree turn and face the west
Oh we’re running with the wind
A high clifftop we’re waiting with the rest
For this journey to begin
Chorus
But these broken wings won’t fly
These broken wings won’t fly
These broken wings won’t fly at all
And Oh how we laugh but maybe we should crawl
And ask to be excused
We shout loudly, have answers to it all
Oh but we have been refused
Chorus
Girl child
You’re dancing with the stream
Growing with the silver trees
Your young questions
You ask me what it means
Oh but I am not at ease
Chorus
Been to Alba this year after nearly 35 years...and Dougie was in the CD player all the time...I now understand him so much better than before. Surely come back soon!
I,m from the area dougie lives and used to have a couple of pints with him at the meickleour hotel ? I had an accident ended up in a petrol explosion and spent months in a burns unit , these burns beds cost a fortune and dougie said if i wanted he would put together a charity concert to buy more beds £40k a piece sadly concert didnt happen as i was badly burnt and shy,d away but dougie was straight in there to help and his lovely wife jenni is his backbone too
I saw him tonight in concert, and WOW! I had a great time. he encourages audience participation and tells stories, and I think his songs are beautiful. I'll go back to see him again.
What a beautiful song Dougie!!!! I found this song while looking for historical information on Caledonia! How fortunate for me! Now I have to go to Scotland to hear Dougie MacLean in concert!!!
you are breaking my heart with these beautiful lyrics...and music.......your voice..now that is somthing else, you are mealting my very frozen heart with you angel voice.....thank you soooo.... much...xx
I sat on a bench outside a coffee house one summer night some years ago and struck up a conversation with a random stranger. We talked awhile about many thing other than music and I remember how down to earth he was and very humble. He introduced himself as Dougie, and we left it at that. I finally asked him if he played music himself and I remember him lowering his head with a big smile on his face. He then patted me on the back and said. "Yes, I've been around a few stages" Shortly after we shook hands and he eventually left with some people. It wasn't until later on that night when people told me who he was...Great man indeed.
Dougie is a good guy, down to earth, if you order from him direct he will probably autograph the cds for you.. Just tell him Doug in Alaska said to do it..lol.. Dougie taught me how to play his song, Ready For The Storm.. I recorded it on my Cd, The Alaskan mile.. He is a great teacher too..
