I’m absolutely living for these comments...forever my all-time fave movie from my childhood. Seeing it at age ten in June of ‘84 with my best friend was absolutely life-changing. Rest in peace Harold Ramis (still recall the day we lost him like it was yesterday), and Michael Gross (creator of the iconic no-ghost logo).
This is just how good Elmer Bernstein was. None of his work sounded the same. He matched the music to the film and did so perfectly. You would never be able to tell he did the soundtrack for the Ten Commandments and the Magnificent Seven, plus did Ghostbusters. John Williams is good, but all of his work is easily recognizable and sounds very similar.
