I loved George Shearing! I first heard him when I was about 7 and now I am 67. I can play his music all day! The song Nothing but D Best is the bomb!! Thank you for sharing!
Probably the greatest British export ever My dad introduced me to the Searing sound and bought me a Shearing book of music. Never did learn it! but still love his unique sound
I first heard Shearing on a vinyl that one of the guys in the barracks had. "modern jazz " was having a good showing in the clubs in downtown Tokyo where I was stationed. Japanese combos covered a lot of the groups including Shearing. I have three or four of his vinyls in my collection = along with Stan Kenton, the Birdman, Errol Garner, MJQ, Monk. Thanks for the reply.
