A wonderful classic from the big band era. The haunting solo uses a "solotone" or "cleartone" mute made famous in Tommy Dorsey's rendition of Song of India.
For me this is the definitive version of "Adios" . Excellent fidelity. What a gorgeous arrangement! After that beautiful introduction and the band comes in full force it just sends chills up my spine. No room for improvement here.
CUBANS: PLEASE STOP ADJUDICATING (STEALING) MUSIC FROM OTHER COUNTRIES/PEOPLE. Cubans are constantly misappropriating music here on the Internet. Enric R. Madriguera (Barcelona, 17 February 1904 – 7 September 1973)[1][2] was a violinist of Catalan origin who was playing concerts as a child before he studied at the Barcelona Conservatory.
Glenn Miller's music is beautiful. I remember in 1961 my Father would play this music and it made us enjoy cleaning the house. He loved his Glenn Miller music and this was my brother Stanley's favorite tune. I was blessed with my Father's collection.
I like to believe My Father is hearing this in heaven. I picture him wearing his Navy Uniform and hanging out at the Hollywood Canteen just enjoy being young and having fun being stuck in the 1940's which were his favorite.
Always remember this in The Glenn Miller Story. While June Allison (Helen Miller) and Marry Morgan (Chummy) are waiting for the Christmas Day broadcast from the BBC. June Allison put this record on. Always bring little choke and misty eyes. [Edit] I think I'm wrong. I think this was in the scene where Helen reads the letter to Chummy to tell him not to take the other job. "As long as there's a Glenn Miller Orchestra, you'll always have a job." Or something like that. It's a beautiful record. Still makes me misty-eyed.
