It’s a song for myself
Just a song for myself
You don’t have to listen babe
It’s just a song for myself
But since I fell in love with you
It’s brought some thoughts to mind
If we’re gonna raise us a couple of kids
I’ve got to worry 'bout future times
Do I believe that the answer
Is still blowing in the iwnd?
I don’t believe it!
Do i belive that there are good times rolling
Babe, just around the bend?
I don’t belive it
Do I believe that with a little more love
Babe, all our troubles end?
Here I am trying to belive in myself
And be a little good
Be a little good
Be a little good to my friends
It’s just a thought that was in my mind
Just a thought that was in my mind
But no one’s wrote a protest song
Since nineteen sixty three
Are we all gonna listen to the moldy gold
And say just let it be?
It’s just a song for myself
Just a song for myself
You don’t have to sing it babe
It’s just a song for myself
But it seems our generation
Should have something more to say
Are we all gonna sit here
With a stoned out smile
And simply watch the world go 'way?
You're very welcome! :) I totally agree with you. This song is very personal to me, cause I can relate to his message in this song. His music is always with me and so is his beliefs. I'm 21 and have been a long time Chapin fan from age 12. He is and will forever be my all time favorite singer/songwriter. I have a couple other clips from various concerts I will post soon. Thank you for watching and keep the change! :)

Thanks for posting. A talented and humble musician. Never tire of hearing him and it's a special treat to see him on Tonight. If anyone has a video of Harry singing Sunday Morning Sunshine I would dearly love it.....
"Do I believe that the answer is still blowing in the wind?".........................no, but be a little good to my friends. Still miss the humanity of this man, saw him in 74 gave him something written for him, two weeks later a personal note on his letterhead. I will never forget the encouragement.
I couldn't believe it either, I thought I had heard them all!! can you imagine his notebooks, those would be absolutely priceless!! I am so glad my parents got all their daughters into him!! My kids listen too!
Living Room Suite is the album that exposed me to Harry, (except for "Cats In The Cradle", of course), and I bought it solely by the cover. I love every song on it, particularly Poor Damned Fool, cuz they all speak to me in different ways. He had such a way of putting his feelings into words; I know no other gifted as he was. I cry every time I hear almost any of his songs. Harry, you are loved and missed.
It's my pleasure!! I'm glad I can help out by getting Harry's music to people. That is so amazing how your grandmother interviewed him, I'm a bit envious too lol. Like Harry said, you can always count on the cheap seats lol I have a bunch of his albums on record.
He's one of a kind, and has helped me through some pretty rough times. I love his music, stories and personality. I visit his grave every year in Huntington. I'm glad to have posted this song, its one of my all time favorites!
Thank you SO much for posting this. I am 22, and I've been a Harry Chapin fan since I was just a babe, when my grandmother would play Harry Chapin records (yes, as in those old 33's) to me. I have only heard of this song and just listened to it for the first time about 5 minutes ago.
My mother had the chance to interview him back around 1976, when she was a college DJ. I am so envious of her, and I would have LOVED to have just seen him from the "cheap seats", much less meet him.
So this is the guy I'm related to ?
This is interesting, I came home ab heard this song and my g-ma told me I was related to him,I guess he was my g-mas cousin ..interesting world we live in (:
Ok!! I thought I had listened to everything Harry Chapin, even some of the stuff thats not on record like "I'm a dirty old man".
I just fell in love with this song (but of course) I love anything Harry Chapin.
Thanks Nightfall
Is there a video of Harry performing Taxi on his first visit to the Tonight Show? I cannot seem to find that. Also, I think he did Sniper on the Tonight Show at some point, too. Would love to see that as well.
Anytime! :) I love everything about Harry and his music. This one is one of my personal favorites, something about this song gives me the chills. I haven't heard "I'm a dirty old man" Now I gotta go search for it haha
