She sits alone by a lamp post
Trying to find a thought that’s escaped her mind
She said dad’s the one i love the most
But Stipe’s not far behind
She never lets me in Only tell me where’s she’s been
When she’s had too much to drink
I say that I don’t care
I just run my hands through her dark hair
Then I pray to God you gotta help me fly away and just
Let her cry
Let her tears fall down like rain
Let her sing
If it eases all her pain
Let her go Let her walk right out on me And if the sun comes out tomorrow
Let her be Let her be This morning I woke up alone
Found a note standin' by the phone
Saying maybe, maybe I’ll be back some day
I wanted to look for you
You walked in I didn’t know just what I should do So I sat back down and had a beer and felt sorry for myself saying
Let her cry
Let her tears fall down like rain
Let her sing
If it eases all her pain
Let her go Let her walk right out on me And if the sun comes out tomorrow
Let her be Let her be Let her cry
Let her tears fall down like rain
Let her sing
If it eases all her pain
Let her go Let her walk right out on me And if the sun comes out tomorrow
Let her be Let her be Last night I tried to leave
Cried so much I could not believe
She was the same girl I fell in love with long ago
She went in the back to get high
I sat down on my couch and cried
Yelling oh mama please help me Won’t you hold my hand and
Let her cry
Let her tears fall down like rain
Let her sing
If it eases all her pain
Let her go Let her walk right out on me And if the sun comes out tomorrow
Let her be Let her cry
Let her tears fall down like rain
Let her sing
If it eases all her pain
Let her go Let her walk right out on me And if the sun comes out tomorrow
Let her be Let her be
Me and my dad painted Darius Rucker's home in Charleston SC in 1994.. It was painted yellow with black trim.. And when we were done he walked up after being on the road and told my dad "Nice job!" and signed my dad's tee shirt! I was so blown away all I could do was stare.. Dad said to me Pick up your tongue son he's only like you and me.. ! I still couldn't speak! I still remember it like it was yesterday..
This song is my childhood and teenage years. A radio softly playing in the garage while I work on a project with the garage door raised, the wind gently blowing, the sun shining. As a child I listened to this school morning and afternoon on the school bus.
Quarintine gives me a chance to relive my 90's when we would call our friends on land lines , actually knocked on front door to get our friends out to play , blockbuster video was our favorite place to go next to the skating rink on a Friday night. No cell phones , no social media , just raw kid fun. Ahhhhhh, those were the days. Only wish I could relive them.
