Remember when musicians were actual musicians who had actual talent and played actual instruments?

Jerry is known by most as the guy who wrote funny songs and drove the big rig in Smokey and the Bandit. Those of us who play and closely follow other musicians, know that Jerry was one of the best finger style players in the world. True story.

Jerry was such and I mean such a special talent. I've been playing 27 years and never even gotten close to his ways

Just think this was on regular TV. It was so classy. Now we have pregnant teenagers on TV screaming at everyone and that seems to be acceptable.

when talking about guitar gods hendrix, clapton , van halen etc... i believe jerry reed, chet atkins and roy clark should be included in that conversation as inovators of guitar evolution.

When Elvis was attempting to record this song they realized no one could cover Jerry’s guitar part so they got Jerry who was out fishing to come to the studio and record the song with Elvis.

I love that Elvis covered this, and wouldn’t record his version without Jerry in the Studio.

Jerry Reed is great, he always sounds like he is having the best time when he sings. Hell of a picker!

The talent these gentleman had with a guitar blows me away. Because they sing country or rock a billy people think they are hacks. Baloney, Jerry Reed was an excellent player.

Jerry allowed everyone around him to be equal parts in the gig, he mimicked any style they would want to present effortlessly. But we all know who has the real star power, the guy who desires it the least. Star power is given, its not taken or appointed. The problem these days with a lot of these fairly talented divas is that they are not stars. Not a par with the old class for damn sure.

I met Jerry Reed as a little kid at Denny’s in Ocala Florida. My granny pointed him out to me because I had no clue who he was. I interrupted his meal and asked for his autograph. He was such a nice guy. He asked me all about myself then signed a napkin like it wasn’t an imposition at all.
