The forgotten soldiers are their dreams
distorted, their loves have walked & gone
gone are the desert storms,
a screaming child occupies their mind.
a blank tv screen, a world demised for you & I
I says the woman,man & child
look out into the skies, we dream of
peace & a better world, Love...
Sweet Jesus, I wish I had the words to express how much I'm in love with Forgotten Part 2, even though Part 1 is also amazing. I can imagine Joe's guitar shedding tears while he's playing this one, what a beauty. Maybe there are a few guitar masters on this planet that are more talented technically than Joe Satriani (even though you have to understand, this guy TAUGHT STEVE FUCKING VAI HOW TO PLAY GUITAR), but in terms of composing and putting emotion - no. Just plain NO, Joe is the best and Forgotten Part 2 is the best evidence for this.
The Forgotten Part 2 has my favourite solo of all time. It's so angry, you can feel the pain, anger and despair, it conveys raw emotion better than words ever could.
I first heard this song when I was a teeneager. I bought the album on tape and wore it out from listening to this song so much! I was pretty happy when it became the commercial song for Molson Special Dry because it was my favorite beer. I love this song! It always gives me goosebumps when I play it loud! Joe Satriani is AWESOME!!!
At my step-father's request this was played at his funeral. This music has the uncanny ability to touch you at your highest peak and in the darkest depths of your dispair. If this was something you always liked to listen to on your best days, try listening to it when your heart is broken. It will reach down your throat and pull you inside out by your socks. I never thought I would hear Satch blasted full-tilt in a church full of crying people, but I did, and it was transcendent. Dad was right.
Easily one of his best deep cuts. From Part 1 all the way to the beautiful outro, this track bleeds with a quiet intensity that's all its own. Satriani at one of his prime moments, no doubt.
The first time i borrowed this tape from my friend, i was big into Slayer, Testament, Sepultura, etc.. And i was like: "this is not intense enough"; until my girlfriend dumpted me. I can still remember that night when i put that cassette tape in my boombox and this song randomly played, i instantly became a Satriani fan. I don't know how many hundreds of thousands times i've listened to that album but 25 years later, this song still gives me intense goose bumps. This is not scales and techniques, this is raw feelings!
Its almost impossible or hard to believe so much great sound and music can come from person, J. Satriani is just Not of This Earth! thanks for J.S. the master guitarist
