I know too well that I’m just wasting precious time
In thinking such a thing could be That you could ever care for me
I’m sure you hate to hear
That I adore you, dear
But grant me Just the same
I’m not entirely to blame
For love
You’d be so easy to love
So easy to idolize
All others above
So worth the yearning for
So swell to keep every home fire burning for
We’d be so grand at the game
So carefree together
That it does seem a shame
That you can’t see
Your future with me Cause you’d be oh, so easy to love
I must confess I had forgotten about Maxine it is so long since I had heard her.
Thanks for reminding me, I shall be listening to her often hence forth.
Great singer and beautiful rendition on this song. Real cabaret in the style of Bobby Short, Lee Wiley et al. My preference - really - over the jazz sound.
i found out about her recently with the world on a string...sitting on a rainbow....and I have fell in love. effortless artist. She needs her dues, maybe alicia keys can cover one of her songs and bring light to her legacy like beyonce did etta james (though Etta stands on her own) to the younger generation. Music like this should not be capsuled in a time period! Love it. Thanks
