I’ve been ghosting, I’ve been ghosting along
Ghost in your house, ghost in your arms
When you’re tossing, when you turn in your sleep
It’s because I’m ghosting your dreams
And this is why I have decided
To pull these old white sheets from my head
I’ll leave them folded neat and tidy
So that you’ll know I’m out of hiding
I’ve been ghosting, I’ve been ghosting alone
Ghost in the world, ghost with no home
I remember, I remember the days
When I’d make you oh so afraid
And this is why I have decided
To leave your house and home unhaunted
You don’t need poltergeists for sidekicks
You don’t need treats and you don’t need tricks
You don’t need treats, you don’t need tricks
You don’t need no Halloween
You don’t need treats, you don’t need tricks
And you don’t need me
Me…
Hey, would it be so bad if I stayed
I’m just a ghost out of his grave
And I can’t make love in my grave
I won’t put white into your hair
I won’t make noises in your stairs
I will be kind and I’ll be sweet
If you stop staring straight through me
And this is why I have decided
To pull these old white sheets from my head
I’ll leave them folded neat and tidy
So that you’ll know I’m out of hiding
And this is why I have decided
To leave your house and home unhaunted
You don’t need poltergeist for sidekicks
You don’t need treats and you don’t need tricks
You don’t need treats, you don’t need tricks
You don’t need no Halloween
You don’t need treats, you don’t need tricks
You don’t need treats, you don’t need no Hallows Eve
You don’t need treats, you don’t need tricks
And you don’t need me…
ghost*ing
/gōstiNG/
verb
The sudden disappearance or avoidance of your friend(s) or significant other to get the point across that you no longer want anything to do with them.
the definition for ghosting is the act of completely avoiding/disapearing on the person (ghostee) you where currently in a relationship with, be it a few days, a month, a year you where with them, its pretty much just an immature way to tell someone you're not into them anymore without "hurting their feelings" though its a shitty thing to do and the ghostee will end up hurt anyways
The part about "Tricks" and "Treats" and "Halloween" always confused me, but I think I understand it now. On Halloween, you go from door to door begging for candy; I think that might be a metaphor for going from person to person asking for friendship or affection.
When he tells himself "you don't need tricks" (other people's cruelty, dislike, scorn, etc.) and, "you don't need treats" (approval, popularity, admiration. etc.), he's saying that he shouldn't have to rely on other people's approval so much. If he were more content in his own company, just being himself, he wouldn't feel so empty. I don't know, I could be totally off, lol. What do you guys think?
what he's singing about: a ghost who doesn't want to haunt this certain household, but also wants to stay, and they promise that if they are kept then they will be docile if only they wont 'look through him' and see him, because he is actually there even though he's dead. But he's already caused the household so much grief because he keeps scaring them.
This is a metaphor for how he feels about this one person, and the guilt he carries for disappearing on them, and the reason that they do disappear on them is because they feel as if this person, or these people, don't see him for who he is. So he ghosts on them because he thinks that they would like it better. But he's attached and doesn't want to leave, but because of his insecurity he feels like he should just fade away.
Jk I don't know what the fuck I'm talking about. Would make a great story.
You know I hate ghosting but I seem to do so often. I don't know what the matter with me. I've lost some of my best friend this way, but then again who knows if I was a friend at all.
This song made me remember my stuffed animal Simon. He was a giraffe. He was my best friend!
But the thing is,, I've never owned a stuffed animal named Simon who was a giraffe. Ever.
I'm not sure if I made it up or not, but it made me remember.
