Ed Blackwell's solo is one of my favourites on record.
A masterclass in coherent creativity. So innovatory, but with such deep roots
(New Orleans?); Up there with Elvin Jones on Coltrane's 'Africa /Brass,Max Roach with Rollins, [ and 'papa' Joe Jones. . . . always! ] Thanks for this, Fskhfskhkfsh .
Interestingly, all of the abbreviated song titles were taken from the works of Freud. This one stands for "Totem And Taboo", C & D stands for "Civilization And Its Discontents"- great bowed bass solo by Scott LaFaro on that one, up there with his Bill Evans Trio stuff. And THIS cut is great. Basically all Blackwell... my third favorite acoustic kit drummer of the late 50's- mid 60's period, right behind "Philly" Joe Jones and Tony Williams.
