Everyone is entitled to believe what they want. I grew up during the era of Rakim, KRS, P.E., LL, Whodini, etc., etc. I also grew up watching Jordan live so I expect to argue with my sons who have grown up watching LeBron and K.D. play. However - "Nate Has to Regulate" -  the only thing Tupac was better than Rakim at was being hypocritical. Also, I never had to worry about playing Rakim for my son's as there was never an issue with its impact on the minds and spirit. I could never say the same for most of the people populating the lists posted on here. Sound and images have always been two of the most powerful influences on the human mind. No one eats poisoned/spoiled food but, we damn sure fill our minds with poisonous fruit because "it's got a fat beat", don't we?

Dang, I just can't get this beat outta my head. One of my favorites from 90's Rakim.

"Mic stays warm, my flow is Evian. Deep as a Nautilus you stay dipped in Ra's style, from the shores of long island to the Panama canal. Intellect pitches trends like a clothes designer; I'm in effect quicker than medicines in china. Split the mic open and put something potent to go in, take it toting,  mental planes start floating. High Science is spoken, altitudes cause choking, the product is hypnotic your soaking and still smoking; showing better scenes than grams of amphetamines."

No one is better than the great RAKIM!!! If he came out in1990 instead of 1986 there would be no arguement...

everyone talking about G.O.A.T there will never be a greatest rapper, everyone has their favourite of all time. My fave is Biggy Smalls, some like Tupac, some like Jay Z, some like Rakim, some like Nas, but at the end of the day it's just an opinion. Let's just enjoy the damn music y'all. shiiiiiiiiit

Nobody wants to hear your favorite rappers, let's not compare them. They're different, you can't compare them. Different styles can't be compared. They're all great in their own way. There's no way to measure whether Tupac or Nas, or maybe Rakim takes the crown. Every single rapper out of all of your lists is great in their own way lyrically. Let's just peace it out and enjoy the music.

I'm really surprised and baffled that this song did not receive higher recognition and greater success. I would put this track among top 30 tracks of hip hop.
