Wasting all my time wondering if you really loved me
I was wasting all my time thinking 'bout the way you treat me
Wasting all my time on someone who didn’t know me
I was wasting all my time on someone who couldn’t love me
And I knew when I met you
I’m not the one you wanna be with
'Cause I can’t see you blossom in the future that I’m dreamin'
I’ll be spending all my time
With someone who really wants me
I’ll be spending all my time
With someone who really needs me
'Cause I found someone who has time
To show me they really love me
So I’m not wasting any time
Even though he’s still far from me
And I knew when I met him
That he’s the one I want to be with
'Cause I can see him
Blossom in the future that I’m dreamin'
So it’s not wasting any time
I’ve been there Sophie. With someone who won’t even say they love you or admit it’s a real relationship, but still expect you to do everything you’d do in a relationship. Ever since I met my new love I knew since day one I wanted something with him. It’s been almost two months and it’s the happiest I’ve ever been with someone and I want to sing this for him when he visits me on my birthday.
This song is so heartbreaking. I went through this after my divorce. I paired myself with someone who was in the same place as me, which is to say we weren't in a healthy headspace. We both wanted different futures and I knew it would not last. But god, it was painful. And now I've been with a person for the last five years who loves me and appreciates me as fully as I love and appreciate her, and it's been the most healing, beautiful, life-giving thing ever.
I love this song so much. It's heartbreaking and at the same time, optimistic, but only realistically optimistic with that line "Even though he's still far from me"
