Were these guys heavy or what?!?! Between Grosvenor's wailing guitar in the background, Harrison's organ work and the dueling vocals.....holy crap! No wonder it sounded so awesome when high!! One of the most underrated bands back in the day, especially in North America. Somebody please invent a time machine.
Another band that should have been bigger in this country. In fact, Spooky Two is one of my favorite albums with its mix of hard rock songs like "Evil Woman" and "Waiting for the Wind" as well as the ballads like "That Was Only Yesterday" and "Feeling Bad". I still get chills listening to the album in its entirety and I was only three when it came out.
As there are no comments on Bassist Greg Ridley i'll chime in & say what a fine musician he was with Spooky Tooth & well we shouldn't have to remind anyone his place in Humble Pie. We miss those great bass lines & the excitement he brought to both bands. He is missed ..
This is one of the great overlooked epics of that period. The whole album is easily the group's best, but this is its highlight: the riff, the vocals, the soloing...unforgettable.
I remember my brother having this 8 track in his car along with Johnny Winter, James Gang, Traffic, Canned Heat, et al. Just amazing stuff. My first exposure to this style (I was younger). Listened a lot to my oldest brother's music - Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Elvis, Roy Orbison and I could see the transition and the influence. Scared me at first but also infatuated me at what could be done. Just Great!
this is one of the best stoner songs of all time these guys jam out and for the hater that says this is horrible do you know anything about rock n roll cause it dont sound like it
The sign of a great album is: I bought this album when nobody knew of the back in 1967, College room-mate took it. Found it as a CD in the 90;s stolen again in 2009.
