Thanks for that, fortunately one can always rely on someone knowing the history with added details. I will search for the Peggy Lee version. Again, Many thanks for offering that information..

There are so many versions of this wonderful song, each with their unique style. I like them all. Including Kathy Kirby's (up-tempo version - which was in the top 10 in the British charts circa. 1964) I would love to have a collection of all of them. Now I'm on a mission ....

Aha, Studio One....I remember now, I was 16...My Mom and I wanted to get the song...I don't remember what the show was about? That was 1955? right?

She is great, the only one I am familiar with is Teresa Brewer's rendition, which I loved.

Maybe not the very best version out there, but as always with "la Gale"; done with much elegance, emotion and savoir faire. A great, absurdly underrated singer. There should be a law or amendment against not knowing and not liking her !

While Sunny does a nice job..i will always prefer Joan Weber's version...her voice literally makes you feel the pain that she is going through...

That song was the song on tv Studio One. It was sung by Joan Weber. After the show everyone was calling the station wanting to know how they could get the recording. At the time there was no recording, Joan Weber sang that song at the beginning of the Movie on Studio one. The rest is history.

A singer of great style with a very endearing catch in her voice. She made some superb records but never got the exposure she deserved in the UK.
