I can’t be happy, mama, for being so blue
When you keep on worrying the way you do
When things go wrong, so wrong with you
It hurts me too
The man you loving, he don’t want you 'round
So take me mama, let’s leave this town
When things go wrong, so wrong with you
It hurts me too
If he keep on dolling you, the way you do
I may lose my head mama, and my temper too
When things go wrong, so wrong with you
It hurts me too
He wrecked your life mama, right at the start
And if you ain’t careful mama, he will break your heart
When things go wrong, so wrong with you
It hurts me too
I love you baby, you know it’s true
So why put up mama, with the way you do
When things go wrong, so wrong with you
It hurts me too
When things go wrong, so wrong with you
It hurts me too
the 'best' is relative... its great and it's different from elmore and eric. but they are all good. depends on your mood sometimes. i play this on my regular set electric with a band and solo acoustic. it changes every time. they is all good! keep loving the blues. from tbone to muddy to eric
Hudson Woodbridge AKA Tampa Red: 1/8/1904
- Georgia born, Florida raised Chicago blues guitarist, pianist and singer, he was known for his polished slide guitar style and for being the first African American musician to own a National steel-bodied resonator guitar, the loudest guitar before amplification. His single-string bottleneck guitar playing would influence the likes of Muddy Waters and Earl Jones, while also setting the stage for guitar soloing to come in both blues and rock.
If one talkes about best, greatest, most influential Blues men, Tampa Red's name should be called up next to Robert Johnson, Blind Lemon Jefferson, Lonnie Johnson, Ledbelly, BB King, Muddy Waters.....I love his music.
You said you hurtin', you almost lost your mind
The man you love he hurt you all the time
When things go wrong, go wrong with you
It hurtin' me too
You love him more, when you should love him less
Why pick up behind him and take his mess
But when things go wrong, go wrong with you
It hurtin' me too
He loves another woman, and I love you
But you love him and stick to him like glue
When things go wrong, go wrong with…
Beautifully sweet delivery from one of the smoothest slide players ever.
Don't know why but something about an eight bar blues just says it all for me.
Wow, I never knew this version existed. It sounds like it was recorded wsy before Mr James version. Better lyrics. Tampa Red is my favorite old school slide player
Tampa Red wrote some of the most beautiful melodies as well as sensitive and heartfelt lyrics in blues. This one, Seminole Blues, Better Let My Gal Alone, Denver Blues. Yet he could be decently frivolous too. He seemed to be have been a quite fine guy too. He deserves way more attention than he gets.
