McGuinn sort of revisiting the solos he did on Eight Miles High and Why? Obviously an early take and it would have been interesting to hear a finished Rickenbacker lead on the released version, although the sounds achieved throughout Side Two of the album take some beating and show that McGuinn was trying to get away from that familiar sound. I wonder how Gary Usher would have treated McGuinn's bluesy licks on Dr Byrds And Mr Hyde? Both Hillman and McGuinn did some sessions for David Hemmings's Happens album at about this time (mid to late 1967), similar in style to this early take.
