Everything is one big Christmas tree
All got up with lights and candy
All the world is turning prettily
Everyone’s awaiting Sandy
Stop mumbling and cheer up Put down the book, pick beer up Why sit in your dark and lonely room?
Must your every word be sincere?
Here’s a vial of laughing gas perfume
See that people smile when you’re near
If they don’t like you, screw them
Don’t leave you fortune to them
Nein, vielleicht ist Alles nicht ein Traum
Ist Alles ein Albtraum? Nicht, nicht!
Alles ist ein großer Tannenbaum
Rotierend im Weltraumgeschichte
La la la la la la la La la la la la la la Everything is one big Christmas tree
All got up with lights and candy
All the world is turning prettily
Everyone’s awaiting Sandy
Where can that Sandy be?
Where can that Sandy be?
Where can that Sandy be?
Where can that Sandy be?
Where can that Sandy be?
Where can that Sandy be…
Brilliant, Stephin! "Sandy" seems to substitute for "Santa" much as "Godot" substitutes for "God" in Becket's "Waiting for Godot."
The verse in German is so well placed and sung by that chorus of garrulous male voices, it's hard not to sing along.
Is anyone else writing this creatively today?
I really like this song even though it's one of the "kitschy" ones on the album. The chorus in German or whatever is just great. To me it evokes a bunch of loggers.
For musicians: the chords seem to be the following (I use parentheses to indicate the on-and-off suspension of the major chord):
Intro: D (sus4) 3x
G D F C Everything is one...
Am C G D (sus4) All the world is...
G D F C All the world is turning...
Am C G D Everyone's awaiting...
Em Em/B Dsus4 A Stop mumbling...
C C/G D Dsus4 Put down the book...
And repeat through the remaining verses, with G D F C
serving as the backdrop to the final lines ("Where can that Sandy be?")
