How wonderful that we can listen to this, recorded 83 years ago... It is sad to think of all the great music that is forever lost because it was made before sound recording had been invented.

I fell for a woman from K.C. years ago. Long-distance, doomed-at-the-outset love, if love is what it was. We were more like moths caught in the bug-zapper of the idea of love. I used to listen to this song and fantasize about hitting the road and paying her another visit. But she found local husband material soon after "us". The song is still evocative--of other, outward things as well. American history--I hope to learn to play it half-decently someday soon.
