“Hundreds of guys depended on Paulie and he got a piece of everything they made. And it was tribute, just like in the old country, except they were doing it here in America. And all they got from Paulie was protection from other guys looking to rip them off. And that's what it's all about. That's what the FBI could never understand. That what Paulie and the organization does is offer protection for people who can't go to the cops. That's it. That's all it is. They're like the police department for wise guys.”
Sincerely, oh yes, sincerely
'Cause I love you so dearly
Please say you'll be mine
Sincerely, oh you know how I love you
I'll do anything for you
Please say you'll be mine
Oh Lord, won't you tell me why
I love that girl so she doesn't want me
But I'll never, never, never, never let her go
Sincerely, oh you know how I love you
I'll do anything for you
Please say you'll be mine
Oh Lord, won't you tell me why
I love that girl so she doesn't want me
But I'll never, never, never, never let her go
Sincerely, oh you know how I love you
I'll do anything for you
Please say you'll be mine, oh say you'll be mine

I danced to this 45 recording at the "Sincerely Club", Brooklyn, NY, in 1955, about a year after the song came out. The guys in the club named the club after this song, which became their theme song. They played the song over and over. Were they sincere? Could a 13 year old girl tell? I sure couldn't. But it is still a totally great song!
