I'll add my 2 cents worth. I think it was almost as important as "Because Of You". I remember it being played by several DJs in the Wash., DC area back in the early 50s & I liked it almost as much as the 'A' side; and a great arrangement by Percy Faith, who arranged a lot of Bennett's hits.
Amazing... this artist as like very few(Patti Labelle, Santana, Micheal Jackson,Eric Clapton, George Benson) have been able to continue to perform at large venues to sold out audiences long after their early successes. They seem to stay in demand as contemporary artist seek to record and perform with them. Their recordings seem to always be available and selling in every major record store in the country while so many contemporary artist with major labels struggle to remain relevant after only 5 or 6 years.I guess longevity is the key here. Lady Gaga's recent "conversion to Jazz" and highly acclaimed duets with Tony Bennett seem to defy conventional logic. Justin Timberlake's work with MJ...the Black eyed peas recordings and performances with Sergio Mendez...seems like many of the "current pop stars" want to perform with artist who's first recordings were from the 50's and 60's.
Great, very sensitive song! I'd never heard of it before, but I'm glad I didn't know about it years ago, or it would have brought more tears of memory over a lost love! (I wouldn't have paid any attention to it in 1951, because I hadn't learned what it was to love and lose then!) And now, I'm past the crying over any love except my dog, whom I had to have put down not to long ago after over a decade of constant companionship, and I still get tears about that! It was harder for me than my divorce!
