This is one of my all-time tripping records!! The 70’s were a blast for music fans who were acid heads! The amount of black light acid parties we threw, were remarkable when I think back on it! Everything from VDGG to Gong, Sabbath, The Stooges, Can, Bowie, Yes, Genesis, Floyd, Tull, Slapp Happy, Faust, Zeppelin, Frank Zappa, The Residents, Snakefinger etc etc etc etc.....some of the very best music ever made came out in that amazing decade!

somebody said peter hammill can´t sing. Of cours he can sing: he has a virtuos expressiv voice. the songs are in sound packed paintings, in music bounded philosophic manifests.

This phobia that seizes me vis-à-vis all these repetitive parrots who almost emigrated after listening to that ! VDGG remains grossly underestimated but Time will speak for him ....... ;-)

Must be the most profound rock song ever. It perfectly explains the helplessness of man. I can read this lyric again and again. By the way brilliant playing and vocals. Van der Graff Generator is the great unknown secret of rock music.

This is so fucking beautiful. The essance between hammill and his writing capabilities is truely astonishing, nothing like it i have experienced. He can write such captivating lyrics across beautifully orchistrated music. Thank you hammil. You have touched and healed this one many times.

Even if there is a heaven when we die Endless bliss would be as meaningless as the lie That always comes as answer to the question "Why do we see through the eyes of creation?"

How VDGG manage to sound so raw, rocky, proggy with next to no distorted guitar is amazing. Tributes due to the skill of Banton and especially Jackson.
