It’s been seven hours and fifteen days
Since u took your love away
I go out every night and sleep all day
Since u took your love away
Since u been gone I can do whatever I want
I can see whomever I choose
I can eat my dinner in a fancy restaurant
But nothing
I said nothing can take away these blues
`Cause nothing compares
Nothing compares 2 u It’s been so lonely without u here
Like a bird without a song
Nothing can stop these lonely tears from falling
Tell me baby where did I go wrong
I could put my arms around every boy I see
But they’d only remind me of you
I went to the doctor n’guess what he told me Guess what he told me He said girl u better have fun
No matter what u do But he’s a fool
`Cause nothing compares
Nothing compares 2 u All the flowers that u planted, mama
In the back yard
All died when u went away
I know that living with u baby was sometimes hard
But I’m willing to give it another try
Nothing compares
Nothing compares 2 u Nothing compares
Nothing compares 2 u Nothing compares
Nothing compares 2 u
I had the pleasure of seeing Jimmy Scott perform at Yoshi's years ago and his rendition of this Prince classic and Bryan Ferry's "Slave to Love" were incredible
YOU MAY OR MAY NOT BE SURPRISED "PRINCE" WAS A FAN OF JIMMY'S.
MANY OF THE ARTISTS CONSIDERED HIM THE VOCAL MASTER.
Thank you for your kind words about my husband, he was/is a sweet spirit, once an earth angel now an angel in heaven.

I met Mr. Scott several years ago - he played in Atlanta. He was really one of the best, and when he sang? Your heart just opens up, and dammit, you feel so much it HURTS. Like love does.
So glad I found this. I've been looking for it for about 4 years now after hearing it on MPR. By far, the best rendition of this song. Jimmy Scott has an amazing, haunting voice, I couldn't shake the song after I heard it. Finally found it. So glad.
Forgive my ignorance as well. I, as well never heard of him, which is sad, because I thought I knew of all the Jazz greats. I knew of the making of this song by "Prince". What a tragedy that he was snubbed. But, that's what the Grammys' are known for; To eliminate the TRUE GREATS, and make no mention of their True contribution to the Music Industry.
Very sad. , But all in the same breath, I thank them as well, for opening my eyes, to this Great Man & his Music.
As a Prince fan of over 31 years this is hands down my favorite rendition of this song! I L-O-V-E the 'gentleness' and sincerity of the vocals. The music accompany is sublime. I wonder if P. ever heard it? He must of been proud!!!! :(
