She had such a rich voice, whether as herself or as a mimic, and such a natural feel for different regional dialects, from New York to the South, and so much personality, warmth, and humor- it's amazing she never found her way into animation.

amazing, this is a cover of a song by Helen Kane as Betty Boop... close, but not same. This lady would be a big star today, possibly, an impressionist... this is an impression. :)

Sorry, but I have a hard time believing this Annette Hanshaw. I've never heard Annette sound like that and her signature "That's All" is missing at the end

Better a reply one year late than none at all, I guess! The prudery brought in by the Hayes Act afflicted other things than the movie industry, even though they were on the periphery and not specifically targeted by it. The broadcasting authorities would definitely have one eye on what "Big Brother" wanted, and the song-writers woud tailor their lyrics accordingly. This song was recorded back in the '20s, before the blue-nosed puritans reasserted themselves in the '30s.

And Lindsay got it from this lady. History repeating itself again.

That lyric near the end is, "nobody's giving a dam(n)sel credit" compare with similar device at "He(a)llth. . .th and vigor" delightful

I've only heard Helen Kane sing this. Love it. She's put her own stamp on this

I'm pretty sure this is Helen Kane, not Annette Hanshaw.

Amusing that new listeners still try to argue that this is Helen Kane. You would think that if they found this video they would be a bit more educated on the music of the era and Annette's awesome repertoire of styles.
