Somewhere out there on that horizon
Out beyond the neon lights
I know there must be something better
But there’s nowhere else in sight
It’s survival in the city
When you live from day to day
City streets don’t have much pity
When you’re down, that’s where you’ll stay
In the city (oh, oh)
In the city (oh, ohhh)
I was born here in the city
With my back against the wall
Nothing grows and life ain’t very pretty
No one’s there to catch you when you fall
Somewhere out on that horizon
Far away from the neon sky
I know there must be something better
And I can’t stay another night
In the city (oh, oh)
In the city (oh, ohhh)
In the city
In the city
In the city (oh, ohhh)
Somewhere out there on that horizon
Out beyond the neon lights
I know there must be somethin' better
But there's nowhere else in sight
It's survival in the city
When you live from day to day
City streets don't have much pity
When you're down, that's where you'll stay
In the city, oh, oh.
In the city
I was born here in the city
With my back against the wall
Nothing grows, and life ain't very pretty
No one's there to catch you when you fall
Somewhere out on that horizon
Faraway from the neon sky
I know there must be somethin' better
And I can't stay another night
In the city, oh, oh.
In the city

This film has a lot goin on but my favorite part, and if you grew up poor this scene cuts you to the bone. When looking and feeling ragged after a night on the run, Deborah raises her hand to fix her hair in front of the rich kids. Michael gently pulls it down as if to say, “you are plenty good enough.” Damn! What a scene.
I love how this song transmits both feelings of happiness and sadness in the same time when it plays in the ending of the movie. You feel happy because The Warriors made it but then you realize that they lost people on the way and it’s saddening
