When the night is wrapped around us
And the dawn might come too soon
When the only light that’s found us
Is the solitary moon
When the songbird in a willow sings a soft and soulful tune
Once again you share my pillow
Making love to me tenderly here
As we share the silent moon
As it slowly sails above us in its solitary flight
Seems the moon must surely love us
As it bathes us in its flight
Say that we can spent the day through a sunlit afternoon
Let your kisses say you stay here
And make love to me tenderly here
As we share the silent moon
Say that we can spent the day through a sunlit afternoon
Let your kisses say you stay here
And make love to me tenderly here
As we share the silent moon
The Solitary Moon
No Ordinary Moon
The Solitary Moon
I am so fortunate to have seen a live concert with Shirley Horn at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. It was one of the musical highlights of my life.
I've seen her 3 times before she passed on. I am so thankful I got the chance to see her perform live. Her sound was even better in person. You would have left her showings on a cloud of love. She was truly gifted
This beautiful accompanying trumpet played by one of the most unheralded musicians I've ever had the pleasure to watch play while circular breathing...effortlessly I might add. Beautiful Carl, just beautiful. Carl Saunders, what a great musician. K.
Her sensuality, taking a script from perhaps her own life, certainly from mine, is spell bounding. So real, so exacting, so fulfilling - her accounts. Reminding me of the romantic account of the main character in the movie, entitled, "Under the Tuscan Sun". Sensuality personified, validated by the chance for true love. Best for the new year, 2019, everyone, and many happy returns.
trying to make a nice jazzy playlist and I cannot stop listening to this beautiful haunting song.
so very powerful and moving song just reached my heart!
One of Shirley's best recordings -- she sings every note in her signature style -- a knack for perfectly relaxed phrasing. It's a perfect collaboration with Johnny Mandel's orchestration. His arrangements are subtly shifting colors that move smoothly and magically, like an iridescent fog.
She was and still the best ever..a great musicien, and such a wonderfull singer.Always a pur bonheur de l'entendre....Quelle Interprète Géniale...Merci! Madame. Shirley Théroux.xx
This is the equation you must use when listening to black music. Ms. Shirley Horn exemplifies that Truth in her artistry. Another word for it is: 'Blues'. Let's remember her, and keep her legacy alive by passing it down to the younger generation.
Jazz throws out diamonds into this world, & Shirley Horn was a gem of outstanding worth.Wonderful vocals, the subtle, impressionist piano, the unhurried style drawing every nuance from the piece, each note is savoured, by player & listener alike. Accompanied by arrangements of the highest quality, & musicians of calibre. This is Jazz Heaven. almost like making love on a summer afternoon.
This was the very first track I ever heard from Shirley, It is stunning and gives me goose bumps every time I hear it. I now have quite a few of her albums and will be eternally grateful to Michael Parkinson a radio/tv presenter who made an album of his favourite jazz recordings.
