Everyone on this video (and in general) goes on about Cass’ voice and presence, but let’s be real, it’s Denny Doherty who owns this song and that sweet, mournful tenor carried this group’s sound as the lead vocalist. The dashing, winsome Irishman who oozed just as much cool and charisma as Cass did deserves to be remembered for adding distinction to their look and sound. I love the wardrobe he chose for their TV appearances like the Nehru jacket and pinstripe pants seen here, he looked the part of the romantic, hippie perfectly. I also love what he wore when they performed Dancing Bear and their medley on Ed Sullivan in 1968. (7/12/20)
