God I love this track. And yes, the Fripp guitar is a thing of beauty. Wild but frighteningly prefect.

Really? I have to also type "Eno" next to "baby's on fire" not to get Die Antwoord crap?

Clapton dreams at night....that he's Fripp

Fripp was having either an extremely good or extremely bad day when he recorded that; I can't figure out which.

Throwing her in the water doesn't do anything. There's no cure for it.

Baby's on fire Better throw her in the water Look at her laughing Like a heifer to the slaughter Baby's on fire And all the laughing boys are bitching Waiting for photos Oh the plot is so bewitching. Rescuers row row Do your best to change the subject Blow the wind blow blow Lend some assistance to the object Photographers snip snap Take your time she's only burning This kind of experience Is necessary for her learning If you'll be my flotsam I could be half the man I used to They said you were hot stuff And that's what baby's been reduced to. Juanita and juan Very clever with maracas Making their fortunes Selling second-hand tobaccos Juan dances at chico's And when the clients are evicted He empties the ashtrays And pockets all that he's collected But baby's on fire! And all the instruments agree that Her temperatures rising But any idiot would know that.

Screw Clapton. Fripp is God.

Classic. The pulsating repetitive overlay six years later mutated and marched into Joy Division's Transmission.

I still have the original vinyl from when this came out. 40 years later, the solo still gives me eargasms.

You never see this guitar solo on lists of great guitar solos, which is an unacceptable oversight. This guitar solo eats other guitar solos for breakfast. Devastating like the fire that inspired it.

Fripp and Eno were hot stuff, and that's what baby's been reduced to!

The solo is like I can imagine how it would feel being slashed by diamond encrusted razor blades.

In a more perfect world, that would have been the last guitar solo ever recorded.

That guitar solo is something out of Greek mythology.

Never mind the guitar solo everyone is going on about... that bass is so menacing...and those vocals ... perfect.

This has to be one of the most intense sounding guitar solos ever. Fripp's tone is just so raw.

As a teenager years ago, I knew that I had finally become a good guitarist when I could play this solo exactly like Fripp does here. My friends all said this solo is horrible and sounds like a guy who doesn't know how to play. I knew better. It's purposely atonal and fragmented. Sheer genius.
